Parcines & Rablà in Vinschgau Valley
>> Lodgings in Parcines & Rablà <<
Located just a few kilometres from
Merano. Parcines extends along the sunny slopes at the bottom of the big
Tessa Natural Mountain Group. The scenery is of unbelievable beauty: fruit gardens and fields are surrounded by imposing and snowed-in peaks of the adjacent mountains.
The possibilities of
enjoying excursions in unspoilt nature are endless. You can choose between approximately 240 kilometres of sign-posted hiking paths, not to mention the breathtaking views that can be enjoyed, and which also stimulate the laziest tourist to put on his hiking boots and enjoy an excursion in unspoilt nature.
Also the
sportive offer in the area needs to be mentioned: the braver ones amongst you can try rafting or paragliding, those who prefer more relaxed sports can play tennis, mini golf, go fishing, cycling or give golf a try.
You should also pencil in a visit to the
Typewriter Museum in Parcines, which is dedicated to the inventor of typewriters,
Peter Mitterhofer, a carpenter who was born in Parcines. Inside the museum you can admire about 1,200 models. However, 900 of the models are kept in an archive, which can only be visited upon request. The typewriters in the museum date back to a time period between 1864 (year of invention) to about 1980. The museum gives visitors an insight into the development of this important object during the course of a century.
Very impressive is also the
Parcines Waterfall. With a fall of 98 metres it is the highest in the whole of South Tyrol. It is a true miracle of nature and leaves all visitors with a great impression.
Last but not least we recommend a visit to the parish church dedicated to San Pietro and Paolo, which is constructed in Gothic style. In its interior you can admire a beautiful altar with the painting of the birth of Christ.
In approximate vicinity of Parcines we find the two small villages Rablà and Tel. They date back to Roman times and offer interesting panoramic sites and the option of admiring the reproduction of an ancient milestone of the
Via Claudia Augusta.
Agriculture and tourism are the main activities in this area.
Sporty visitors will not be disappointed from the numerous options: you can go for hikes in the
Tessa Group Natural Park or explore it with a mountain bike, or enjoy a ride down the restless rivers in this area on a canoe or an inflatable boat.
We can truly say that here you can spend regenerating, but also enjoyable holidays and the offers will also meet the requirements of the most demanding visitor.
