one of the most interesting cultural landscapes in the Alps. The Val Venosta is not only one of the areas with the least rainfall in the alpine ridge, it also possesses very precious artistic monuments.
Glorenza, the small town with a great past, mainly gives visitors one impression: The good old times have stopped here…
Glorenza, which was originally a village, became the base of the territorial court around 1220. In 1294 Glorenza received
market rights. The "town" of Glorenza was mentioned for the first time on April 30th 1304, hence it must be a town since then or even earlier.
Glorenza receives its own measurment for weight, the right to force salt traders to sell in their town for a certain time and transport privileges…
The
smallest town in Tyrol and Italy, an architectonic jewel, which is loved by everyone who has gotten to know it. The entirely preserved circular wall with three imposing towers and a number of arbour towers surrounds the picturesque lanes and corners, buildings dating back to the 16th century and arbours with very special charm. The carefully implemented restoration provided the town with new life, while preserving its uniqueness.
On your walk through the narrow lanes you might meet pertained animals. You on a discovery trip, the animal on the way to its stable. Common to both of you is however, the feeling of security in a small idyll.
